My plan for the new year is a new truck(or atleast new to me).

With the new tacoma, ranger(raptor) and the coloardo zr2. Its really hard to decided and pick one. I'm even considering the Honda ridgeline. Since I don't really need a offroad monster. Seems like my offroading days are behind me. But I do not need or want a full size truck. The only thing I hauled in the past 10 years is kayaks, lumber and home repair stuff.

I'm NOT getting rid of the 4runner. But we our getting rid of our 2017 outback . I just don't like the outback. And I really don't care if I take a loss on it. Id say my max budget for the truck is $55k.

So this thread is for opinions when I or other members test drive or have driven mid size trucks.

I think the Ridgeline is a great choice. It looks like a truck, but it’s not really a truck.

For short home depot trips its direct injection only and cylinder deactivation may not be a safe bet. Not sure, just a thought.

I tired looking and listening on other forums. But I found its either full of fan boys or whiners, similar to here. My plan is to take as many test drives as I can and make my own opinions.

I also need to find something with a roomy back seat. While I won't be seating there I do have two kids.

Anything with cylinder deactivation is a no-go for me. Chevy and Dodge are having tons of issues with lifters from the DOD system. Cant do a ridgeline, just cant. The new Taco seems promising, the t24A seems to be a good motor, however I keep seeing reviews about transmission issues from the automatic in the tacomas. Best of luck for whatever you choose.

What are your needs and wants in a new car? Does it have to be a truck?

That new Tacoma is pretty badass...
That'd be my choice. Although the Colorado ZR2 is pretty eye-catching as well. I'm just not sure its a good candidate for long term ownership (>8 years)
