My $85 dollar Dynamite battery took a charge and is running my ProBoat. This boat is awesome IMG_0072.jpg trouble free, water-cooled , 3S badness!

Thats it not IMG_1475.jpg another dime. I have enough Nitro and Batteries to last a lifetime. Painted in Saratoga California, "SuperNova" best $38 shipped ever spent. I straightened the wing. Now to see if it glows in the black light?

I'ld crash and burn for sure. Check out this cooling system. The forward motion forces water through the eletronic speed control and motor then shoots IMG_0083.jpg it out the side.

My latest new addition - Goblin Raw 500 low headspeed sport flying setup with xNova 4015-800kv/YGE 125a/16T pulley and Rotortech 510s.

That makes 5 helis now along with all the planes and cars. Also started training my 13 year old on heli and have an Align TB40 for him to build when he solos heli.

I also picked up one of those Element Trailrunners on sale at Amain. Stashed it in the closet for now, there are places that make 3D printed full 4Runner body conversion parts even printed TRD wheels - Im thinking of doing it up with a full painted custom body as a miniature replica of my Black 2023.

Is electric RC car technology any different these days? I have been out of the game for a long time but do miss how fun RC cars were. I have a Tamiya TL01 chassis, Losi XX-CR, and Tamiya DF01

I was thinking it might be fun to try and get back into it again a bit.

Definitely. Brushless motors and Lipo batteries. Extremely fast too!

I have seen those but guessing brushless would tear up the gearing in those old chassis. are the actual chassis and drivetrain any different than that time period? Or is it pretty similar? Also what type of runtimes do you get with brushless and LiPO?

I always thought a big truck like a clodbuster would have been fun. Not sure what other types they have these days.

Run time depends on how you run and also the number of cells. I average about 40 minutes with my Traxxas Maxx 4S for example. I have about 14 vehicles. My Kraton 6S is probably a good half hour or ripping out grass and launching dirt. These are just a few of them.

Depending on how long you have been out there are a bunch of things that have seriously changed RC in the last 10-15 years:

#1 - Brushless motors and Lipos as mentioned above. Night and day difference. Extreme run times in cars. In planes it changed electric from an eccentric curiosity with anemic performance to being a contender with gasoline. In helicopters it has become the dominant force in extreme competition machines nearly overnight - nitro almost died completely.

#2 - 2.4GHz radios. If you ever went to races, big flying events etc the first thing you will notice is no more frequency control board. Interference and 'shoot downs' is almost unheard of now. Also the response rates and latency is improved by orders of magnitude.

#3 - Gyros. Less of a thing in cars (though I guess its big for drifting?) gyro absolutely transformed heli flying and are becoming more and more popular in planes, especially jets.

#4 - Digital servos. Analogs are mostly gone now and brushless servos are so much more powerful now that you could do stuff like use a standard size case servo for steering on a 1/5gas car like the Baja buggy... no need for the mega giant servos they used to make.

Yea it has been a while. The last radio I bought was a Futaba T3PL which is my current radio. That is the newest thing I have. Other things that I have that were great tech at the time was the novak cyclone ESC and Tekin ECS and dynamite batteries. I am sure those are way outdated now. LOL I think runtimes used to be 7 minutes average, max 15 minutes.

IMG_0181.jpg I got some nice ESC's and motors with this car from Washington. Now if the 91 Camaro body would show up? I even got offered a new one for $20 bucks shipped or something. But, no had to have the used one with the tire marks on the wheel wells from drag racing.

Project Camaro RC10t: IMG_0195.jpg I get to sniff some paint. So the metalic burgandy is actually a translucent do i got silver to back it up.( I know i'll screw that up) And then black stripes and top layer.
