Engine Cleaning out of vehicle

Wanting to pressure wash exterior of engine that is removed from vehicle - the headers and intake is removed - what is best way to seal up to wash it ? Could I take a piece of sheet metal - and rtv across the holes ? Reattach the valve covers same way w RTV just to cover some things up ? Thoughts
The foil tape was just to keep dirt etc out for the moment

I would reattach all covers. Tape everything else up. Use oven cleaner and rinse well.

 

Also to avoid flash rust of any cast iron components you can dilute your water with a rust inhibitor.

I would do this.

I don't trust RTV to hold up against a pressure washer.
