Disappointed with 4 Runner Lifestyle Raptor Style Lights

I recently purchased the Raptor style lights from 4 Runner Lifestyle, hoping for better quality at their $60 price point. However, upon installation, I noticed a significant issue. After a night of rainfall, the lights had water inside them, indicating a faulty seal. Unfortunately, the condensation remains trapped, and it's only a matter of time before they stop working entirely.

What disappoints me further is the lack of quality control in these lights. They appear to be cheaply made in China, without proper measures to prevent water ingress. Moreover, I discovered that similar lights are available online at a much lower price point, making me question the value of purchasing from 4 Runner Lifestyle.

To add to the frustration, when I reached out to 4 Runner Lifestyle for assistance, their response was unsatisfactory. They requested pictures of the lights blinking as proof of malfunction, disregarding the fact that the issue lies with water accumulation. This dismissive attitude indicates a lack of concern for customer satisfaction.

It is important for potential buyers to exercise caution when considering purchases from 4 Runner Lifestyle. Doing thorough research and exploring alternative options online may yield better quality products at more affordable prices.

 

Good point. I did ask 4 Runner Lifestyle to refund me on the lights or replace. Again they need a picture showing them blinking. Crazy experience. You know I have spent over $1000 with them in less than a year. Good customer treatment and service from this family owned business. Never again 4 me. Lost a good customer.

 

Ive ordered from them a handful of times. I learned that for things like interior door handle covers or vinyl stickers (ie. things that have a low chance of defect/failure) they are ok.

I learned to avoid buying higher priced things and anything electrical from them. I had one issue with a defective light they sent me and customer service ghosted me after I sent them video of the defective light.

 

China produces 28.7% of the world's manufactured goods, which is ten times more than the United States. China is known as "the world's factory" because of its low labor costs, strong business ecosystem, low taxes and duties, and competitive currency practices.


It doesn't matter what site you buy from or where you buy from, there's a high chance you'll buy a Chinese made product. Don't knock 'em because of where they are made. You can get crappy American quality products too.

 

I'll knock them for selling crappy products. Not crappy CHINESE products.

They have been known to be troublesome for certain things. I ordered black overlays but haven’t used them. Really though say no to raptor lights.

When the weather is warm I'm thinking to give up my quad high beams and put back the DRL. These raptor lights seems to be piece of sh#t.
I think my 2 spot lights and 2 6in combo lightbars will be enough light output since my TRD Pro highbeam is pathetic.

 

I really liked the DTRLs on the original 5th gen 4Runner front end since they were separate and my Tacoma since they were also the turn signal. On my GTO, the high beams are also the DTRLs so LED replacements are annoying to find.

I have said this many times, 4RunnerLifestyle is the middle man, drop shipper, for almost everything that they sell. When you have an issue with a product, you contact them and in turn they contact the original manufacturer. This creates delays and overseas suppliers alway require excessive pictures/ documentation on defective parts. This tactic is standard practice for all items manufactured in China, India, etc. They figure that most consumers will give up on the return if they make it difficult enough.

From a customer service point, 4RunnerLifestyle should take care of you and deal with the manufacturer themselves. Unfortunately, in today’s world this doesn’t happen. Even businesses have some kind of entitlement mentality. The best way to show a business that you’re not happy is to stop shopping there and let all of your friends know to never buy from them.

I made my own raptor lights. They are just as bright as the regular raptor lights. Also, paid a lot less for them. I tapped into the maker light wire. They come on when I turn either the headlights or maker lights on.

I agree W/ %80 of your response except "Where they are made" is all I'm gonna say. I am NOT looking for a big debate!, because I've seen your post's & which you choose to debate here a lot & I respect your choice to do that too! I too have purchased Raptor lt's made in China W/No discrepancies on my previous 2018 TRD OR or current 2023TRD Pro. I did DO research B4 I purchased. So far that has been good for my purchases.

 

It's true that a lot, if not most products are made in China. It's also true that not everything made in China is crappy. It's also true that not everything Made in USA is going to be of good quality.

However, "Made in China" is usually synonymous with crappy quality for good reason. Unfortunately a lot of things coming out of China just aren't made with quality in mind. China is also known for shady business practices (stealing IP, counterfeits, etc).

You don't think crappy quality when you hear "Made in Switzerland" (or insert most other European countries), because generally speaking, production quality is much higher there.

Now in the case of companies selling Chinese made products: they should still QC them if they really care about their image. Or if they're going to have poor QC, they should at least make up for it with good Customer Service (ie. hassle free returns and/or exchanges).

And yes this was sent from my computer that was made in China.

 

What's frustrating is I paid around 20 bucks for interior lights from Amazon on my 2019 and they still work vs I paid about 60 bucks for these grill/ raptor style lights for a US seller and they fail in few months. Same story for the license plate lights. I thought paying high price to US seller = high quality. Looks like the cheaper products I bought from amazon lasts longer.

Welcome from Wisconsin! I have a similar situation with work lights on my tractor, water/condensation buildup, only in 1 light. It still works, but, I ordered a new light to replace it when it finally gives up. These lights also made in china.

 

They buy those lights for like .02 cents then mark them up.
