Just installed new wheels to my rig. Purchased 17X8.5 Method MR316 with LT265/70R-17 Falken WildPeak A/T3WE from Tire Rack and installed by Discount Tire. Two interesting things, the mechanic indicated that the lug adapter wasn't shipped with the tires, and then showed me some plastic hub rings that he said weren't needed for the install. However, after all my research I am finding that the front tires are rubbing on the interior corner of the trim (primarily I hear it when I'm backing up). Now I'm wondering if those rings were actually needed? Does anyone have an experience with these wheels/rims?

Sounds like you might have to do a front inner fender liner mod and/or mud guard delete.

Wheels combo (tires & rims) looks great!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I have the same tires as you, even the same size. But I kept the OEM wheels. I bought them from Discount Tire and they mounted/balanced them for me.

I do have rubbing, but only when I'm reversing and the steering wheel is at full lock turned to the right. I don't have spacers on the wheels and I did not do any trimming at all. It only seems to happen with I turn to the right, never the left.

    Odd, no?

Hay. It’s weird that reverse hard right is the big issue (the way I normally backup). I have the idea of cutting. Won’t be much but will have to do it. I’m not really impressed with Discount Tire. I’m heading back in the morning to get the wheels rebalanced. Hopefully it goes well.

I believe Method wheels are hubcentric so no rings should be needed. The rings are not spacers and just used to fit center bore of wheels to hub of vehicle. If you are rubbing it's just because you went with a wider wheel and lower offset which is normal.

So as most of you probably already know, the issue is that the bushings provide some movement and that is why I’m getting rubbing only in hard right reverse especially when I have a little speed. So this week I cut off 3/4” of the inside edge of the fender trim and then pushed the fender liner in more by drilling new holes. Pretty simple. I can’t get great pics, but here you go. I used tape to made the cut line and a fien oscillating saw to cut. I don’t know what to use to smooth out the cut edge to make it look clean but it looks good. It looks like the tight tire might be rubbing against the back of the fender liner or mud flap. But not an issue yet.

Not odd at all. There are numerous posts about rubbing at full right lock in reverse. Dunno why. Seems to be the nature of the beast. I have Wildepeak 275's on snowflake wheels and it rubs right full lock in reverse. Left full lock, I got nuthin'. Buddy has 285's on the 7 spoke TRD wheels. He has rubbing only right full lock reverse, too.
